Smoke On The Water: Dark Colors in Your Summer Wardrobe

To be honest, I don't normally associate the color black with a summer wardrobe. But, during those early days of summer - filled with bright warm sunshine and a riot of greenery around us - shades of black do not look quite so bleak. Then the black color in some fabrics loses all its sinister severity. For example - organza, chiffon, tulle. When used in these fabrics, the color black comes across as a light haze, weightless and an almost invisible mist. This gives the impression of magic rather than depression and sadness.
What kind of feelings do you have about wearing black in the Summer? Do you also have a "seasonal color stereotype" of clothing?
And now, here’s my "favorite summer black"!

Wish List: Bag by Charlotte Olympia

Cherry bag, Charlotte Olympia

Once again Charlotte Olympia shocked everyone with her masterpiece - a plastic bag in the shape of two cherries. It looks so cute and fresh, that I immediately want to throw my favorite sunglasses and bright-colored lipstick into it and jump into a convertible to take off  - enjoying the sun and wind :)

Collette Dinnigan Resort 2014

Collette Dinnigan Resort 2014
Collette Dinnigan is a designer with 20 years experience and an amazing sense of femininity. Her  creations are sensual and light, and they make you think, “What is the secret here?” The secret, perhaps, is that Collette's career in the fashion world began with the creation of a line of lingerie made from the finest lace and high-quality fabrics.
Her first store opened in 1992 in Sydney, Australia, and after 8 years, the London public was introduced to her creations. UK super retailer Marks & Spencer invited Collette Dinnigan to create a branded collection of lingerie exclusively for their stores. Today Collette Dinnigan’s women’s clothing line includes a stunning line of wedding dresses as well as a fabulous and sensual lingerie collection.

The Collette Dinnigan Resort Collection 2014 is amazing: sometimes touching, sometimes playful, sometimes stern, sometimes subtle, but always consistently and uniquely feminine. For me, her Collection 2014 is a complete summer wardrobe. In fact, the only piece I would add is a pair of light-colored slacks. Otherwise, this collection has everything you need for the exciting summer season! It is so bright and full of positive emotions that I simply cannot resist. I want it all! :)

Russian Designers: A La Russe, RTW FW 2013/14

Today I want to introduce you to another Russian designer Anastasia Romantsova. Anastasia is the founder and creative director of the brand A La Russe. She personally creates unique things which "breathe history." Dresses from the collection of A La Russe Fall-Winter 2013-14 are made from almost transparent wool from goat hair, which is still used for the most delicate and very warm downy shawls (in Russia they are called "spider web", but they are incredibly warm).
***
                                                                                                                       Image from Pinterest.com

By the way these type of shawls are called "Orenburg shawls" (because of the name of the city Orenburg where they were first produced) and they are one of the famous symbols of Russia, along with MatryoshkasTula samovars and Khokhloma paintings:) So, in her upcoming fall and winter collection, Anastasia offers us surprisingly gentle and romantic lace dresses. I would love to put them on! What about you?

Russian Designer Alena Akhmadullina, RTW FW 2013/14

On March 27th, the next Moscow Fashion Week started. Russian designers are not so well-known around the world. It will be more interesting to experience the introduction of these relatively unknown designers and products. Some of them are already totally accepted founders and followers of the so-called "Russian style", which is actively promoted by such world-famous Russian fashion icons like Miroslava Duma, Ulyana Sergienko and Lena Perminova. So, I introduce to you one of my most revered Russian designers - Alena Akhmadullina and her ready-to-wear collection for FW 2013.
***

Christopher Cain on London Fashion Week

I don't know why I didn't write in the midst of London Fashion Week about the collections that shocked me, or at least the ones I remembered. Some of the most vibrant looks I posted earlier on Facebook, but those are not truly the worthy candidates to write a whole post about:) Finally, it came! (In fact, all this preface is just an attempt to justify myself for my silence;)) But now I promise thet the next few posts will be about the designers and their collections, which were presented at the London 2013 event. We really need to know their autumn-winter interpretation of our wardrobe.
My hero of this day is Christopher Kane. A little history: He is 32, he grew up in a large family and was the youngest of five children. He started a brilliant career after graduating from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in 2006. By the way, graduates of the same college at the time were McQueen, Stella McCartney and John Galliano. This company is more than worthy! After graduating, Kane created his own brand with his sister, Tammy, and this despite the fact that THE Danatella Versace wanted him to work with her!
But Kane didn't regret his decision to work independently. In 2006, he was voted as the best designer in Scotland. The next year, he received another award «British Fashion Awards» as the "New Designer of the Year." Another award he received in 2008 was «Fashion Forward», founded by the British Fashion Council (British Fashion Council). This gave Kane the opportunity to participate in Fashion Week. Well, finally in 2009, persistent Donatella got Kane as the designer for the revival of youth brand Versus, which Kane successfully managed.
This year, Kane just fantaniruets with new ideas. His last collection looks divided into parts. In one of them you can feel the influence of Italian chic, the other part full of minimalist millitari. But the absolutely fresh spirit of his collection erases all the "strangeness" of this designer.

Marissa Webb, Designer, US

Today, the heroine of my new post is young american designer Marissa Webb. She presented her "first collection" at New York Fashion Week in fall 2012. But, despite her age, she can't be called "young designer." J.Crew fans are well aware of her as the permanent designer for the female line of this brand. Marissa had been creating clothes for J.Crew for 11 years, and now she began her solitary voyage in the fashion world.

Stephane Rolland FW 2013... Fall Magic

I have already written about my shock and amazement of the fancy white dresses by Stephane Rolland (HERE). As promised, I am introducing you to his "colored masterpieces." Incredible dresses! ...

Stephane Rolland FW 2013... White Magic

I've never worn long dresses. I've also never worn white dresses to the floor. But after seeing the show of Stephane Rolland I wanted to don (yes, not just put it on, but exactly don) this beauty... Are not they beautiful? ...

Kenzo, PreFall 2013

An incredible collection Kenzo, Pre Fall 2013... Unusual colors, and very impressive outfits... This is my favourites.
***
Невероятная коллекция Kenzo, Pre Fall 2013... Необычные цвета, и очень впечатляюще... Это мои фавориты.

J.Crew: petite, xs, double zero, etc.

I always pay tribute to brands and companies that remember the fact that in addition to the long-legged beauties on podiums and there are not very tall people in this Earth, such as me:) So for these companies where I can actually find clothes in my size, I add them to my "XS List". If I can find the clothes that inspire me like J.Crew's clothes, then these companies immediately are added to my special list:) So what can we find today in the Petite section at J.Crew?
***

Balenciaga: au revoir Ghesquiere, bonjour Wang!

            Nicolas Ghesquiere (Balenciaga 1997 - 2012)              Alexander Wang (Balenciaga 2012 - ...)

On December 3rd 2012 it was officially announced that an American, Alexander Wang, was appointed the creative director of fashion house Balenciaga. Wang replaced frenchman  Nicolas Ghesquiere, who for 15 years led the creative team of the Fashion House, creating an incredible collection.
I would like to recall the most memorable things from the collections of these talented designers.
